They have
exactly the same probability of sharing files as users with custom nicknames. What makes you think that leechers or *AA-types wouldn't use nice, friendly-seeming nicknames?
Yes, I like some of what they share, but that is only part of being friendly. I share all with friends, only because I would completely use up my band width otherwise.
I'm not sure what you mean here.
The lazy nik-less users could be the copyright police or jack the staker for all I know and I like to know who I am shareing with.
So could the users with custom nicknames. What makes you think they could not? Nicknames are in no way enforced. The copyright police and jack the stalker could in fact use the same nicknames that your friends use.
As an old song went "Why can't we be friends". I would love to be but I need a real nik, so we both know who is talking/sharing and a true friend.
There's no such thing as a "real" nickname. Any client can enter any string they want for the nickname. It can be a lie, it can be a copy of some other user's nickname, it can be anything. A "real nik" in no way, shape, or form allows you to "know who is talking/sharing and a true friend".
The only thing which (hopefully) uniquely identifies clients is their user hash and their Secure Identification. Nicknames are not used at all except for display to the human user.
