Remember the friend slot
« on: May 25, 2012, 07:13:16 PM »

Hi,
Friend slot is very useful when you want to upload a file very quickly to a friend, especially when he is downloading a rare file just to help re-seeding it.
Unfortunately not everybody is online 24/7, so when he will reconnect you will have to give him the slot once again. Is there any way to automatically remember the friend slot? With eMule Xtreme/Morph I didn't have such a problem, you had to keep the friend upload lower than $percentage to avoid penalties but it did work. Is there any way to remember the friend slot when someone else reconnects? Even an out of tree patch would be fine, I don't pretend such a feature to go vanilla because I understand it would require a better friend upload management.

Thanks

How do friend slots work now?
Are they related to the friend only or to the file as well?
How many are there (one I think)?
Do you also want aMule to remember the slot when you disconnect?

I am not sure about this, because I'm trying to share 10 files and every time the friend reconnects it may ask for a different file. Anyway I'm pretty sure it doesn't keep the slot even when he asks for the same file.

If you mean slots it is one of course, if you mean files they are 10.

Do you also want aMule to remember the slot when you disconnect?

It would be nice, but considering I don't disconnect often it doesn't matter.

Even when the other peer is online but you cannot reach him because he has low id he loses the slot. Quite annoying...

If he has low id then he has more serious problems than friend slots. You need to rectify that before continuing.
