I am new to Amule and have a question on masking ip address. I am trying to find a freeware program that will not realese my location for many of the web pages that have targeted advertising .... e.g. due to your ip address they know what country / state you live in and try and send the advertising that is localised. 1) is there such a program? 2) will it effect Amule ( currently i have a high ID)? Or is it not possible and i just need to live with it?

1) No, by default because the packets have to know where they have to travel back to. Unless you are using a proxy server somewhere else in which case the web server will see the IP address of that proxy server.
2) Yes, it can. If there is a proxy server out there on the internet that does use SOCKS and allows you to connect through it. Success not garantueed but perhaps Google gives an answer.

Well, you have to first understand how it works. Now you can use something easy like proxy which will actually be slower but can work as masking IP. But when we talking about masking IP's if for example RIAA or MPAA wants to find you they will subpoena it easy as that. But there is another complex form of forwarding and translating packets from another machine which you can connect to VPN tunnel and run the client there but access it from different machine which can be on the network or over the net. This would actually use 2x more bandwidth unless you can physically access the system to extract files you downloaded or want to put on otherwise you will have to uploaded it to he system then from there share it.
PS: Over in iRN on BlackNET we call this a mirrior for example let say we have the new file 'Unknown'. We upload it to a mirrior which is on a free unsecure network or a hijacked system account from for example alot in campus from there we share it.
