I switched from 1.2.6 to 2.0.0 and that was a disaster : when I launched it, my harddisk began to load heavily.
I though it was just to check the files. By it didn't stop.
I let it running for one full afternoon and at the end, my harddisk kept working...
I'm going to downgrade to 1.2.6 until this is fixed or I find a solution without losing my files :(
-
2.0.0 will rehash all your partfiles, thats the "problem" .. if you have many dl's it will take some time ..
maybe u should move some files from your temp dir, let amule rehash it and add then the other one.. try it

Nah, there's a bug inside. Really. For sure.
-
The weird thing is that it rehashes the partfiles everytime I start amule!!
-
Fat32?
-
Yeap, I have some files in a fat32 hdd
-
from our changelog:
* Safer corrupt detection on FAT partitions
I'm sorry if it rehashes every file on your system on restart, will be fixed.
;)
-
No need to apologize :)

DeltaHF told me to turn of the "auto-priority-system", now it works fantastic.

Is this the "Use priority system" ?
I am wandering, is there a help that explains what all these options do?
-
no, he means dl & shared files auto priority .. is buggy
-
No, i don't think my bug comes from the modifications made to the FAT32 code, coz my Linux box has only ext2 & ext3 partitions and my aMule Temp & Share directory is on my home directory on ext3.

This is a know old emule bug.
aMule developers have to correct surce code so that hashing and completing must be done on ONE FILE AT TIME , not all the file together 8o !!!!!!!!!!!
This is a REAL problem when having a lot of files in queue or you fail to complete a lot of file that starts to transfer to incoming all at the same time.
Your machine gets hung !!
-
It hashes exacly 1 file at a time afaik. :)
Maybe I'm wrong.
-
Sure, I have often the download windows filled up of status "hashing" and my hard disk keeps rolling for hours (damn PII & ATA33)
I'm sure that 1.2.6 hashes and completes in parallel, not 1 at time sequentially.
Please verify this in the sources, I'm not a coder.:]
-
Of course you have lot of files hashing. because they're WAITINg to hash. it only hashes once per time, the thread has a list and hashes them in serial, afaik.
-
So is there any real knowledge about this issue?
I mean, *why* does my harddisk actually "rattle" the whole time aMule is running?
As soon as I shut it down, the disk is silent again!
Thank you...
-
Because you're not looking at Known RC1 Bugs, it's already fixed there afaik
-
I think I had the same problem (even with 2.0-rc3). But I was using the same dir for Incoming & Temporary files. Just separating them solved the problem.
I think that this may be the problem mentioned in "2.0.0 RC2 Known Bugs" as MISC 3).
Hope this helps.
-
Thanx a lot. I'll try later if this problem happens here too.
YOU are a REAL example of a good user:
1) Searching through forums before posting.
2) Takeing a look at Known bugs list before starting new thread.
3) Reporting bugs in a way they can be easily reproduced.
Keep up your good job!
Thanx a lot and greetings.
-
Definitly, to reproduce the bug, both income and temp directories have to be the same.
Added to RC3 Known Bugs list.
Thanx a lot dan!
Regards!
-
Glad to be helpful! And thanks for the compliments...
Sorry to post it after while but you can also check if that is not related with bug MISC 4) too, I've noticed it just a couple of times but... Who knows?

How come anyone can be so pervert to have both incoming and temp on the same folder!!!! :P:P:P:P
