hello, i have had a realy strange bug on the partition where amule start i got - sometime - strange empty file with name like ??%d. I'm not sure but i think i got it when it crash (?). it only append on rc2.
-
same here, and i'm sure it happens when amule crash (so about every 30 minutes X( )
-
Weird. Sure it's created by aMule? Do you know how to reproduce it?
Thanx!
-
the first time i see it i was on ~/.eMule/ directory because amule crashed everytime (fat32 bug) and the file appear on THIS directory. now the file appear on my ~ directory it is ALWAY the directory where i start amule these is no other directory where it append, today i had a "9" empty file and it crashed but i don't knowk if it is related.
i will try a "amule ; date' and see if file has the same time when it crash, i'm sorry i don't know if it's reproductible it don't seems to always append on crashor other.
for info i don't use optimise, i'm on french langage, i link on gtk 1 for wx, i'm on fat32 for temp and inc and i patched the rc2 (and it append before) and i'm on athlon500 with 400Mo and the proc use a lot of proc time, i don't know if - one of then - 's related...

if it appears wherever amule is started, it most surely won't be an aMule issue. Make this check: go into some directory where you have no _directory_ write permissions with the user you're logged in. Then wait until aMule crashes (try it few times, as much as you think is enough, that is, as much as you think that strange file should have been created). If the file is still created in that directory, then its definitly not an aMule issue.
Please, make sure that directory you choose to test is in an ext2 or ext3 partition.
If the file is created, please post here the output of both `ls -ld ./`and `ls -l ./`(both executed from the directory from where you launched aMule).
I'm waiting to see the results ;-)
Thanks!

for testing i deleted every strange file and make a new directory and cd on it and start amule, when i come back amule has freezed and a new file name ???? was created. and there no other file elsewhere...
i will try what you want but all my part are on xfs, well i don't think (?) it's a problem (?)

I think those files are dumps done by the kernel, that's why I'm mostly sure they'll appear even in directories where yuo do not have write permissions. It's almost definitely not an aMule issue, but its better to have a confirmation ;-)
Waiting for the results fo the test...

I think it might be amule, really.

hello, i have news on this bug
- if i start on a directory i have no right there is no bug (no new file)
- if i start on my directory it write immediately a file but i found something :
if my preference is set on 'french' i got a file name \032\001\230' (on hexa), if it set on english i got a '\v' if it s on deutch it is too a \032\001\230 (same as french) and if i have not the local i got a '^K'
accesory i see the free() bug get an addresse message that different for each langage:
french 0x85a9e20
deutch 0x85a6378
english 0x8564700
well i think you corrected this, may be it's near that bug ?...

Check RC3 when it's released and tell us if it wtill happens then.
-
seems this bug disapeared :) , cool great work, amule work a lot better on rc3 than rc2 (even if it crashed three time today)! :P seems we can close the topic. ;)
-
I was about to post to ask you if it was still on rc3 ;-)
Thanks for telling.
Greetings!
