I am downloading rare TV series (each file has less than 5 sources). Actually I have to download only 3 episodes from eD2k/KAD, because I have remaining episodes from my friend via Sneakernet. I put these files in my "Shared folders", so other eD2k/KAD users can download them from me. And few people are downloading these files from me. I thought that these people will have lacking episodes and maybe I will ask for sharing them (to make more sources) or for giving me a slot. So I decided to write message to user, but I got message that chat is protected by CAPTCHA and I my client (aMule 2.2.6) isn't supporting it. So I upgraded to 2.3.1 RC1 (manually compiled it from source). Now after sending message, window appears with CAPTCHA image. When I solve it, I switch to "Messages" tab in aMule window and I see text in chat field
*** You have passed the captcha check and the user has received your message. ***
*** Failed to Connect to client / Connection lost ***
and my uploading to that user stops.
I tested it only with users using aMule 0.50 because I don't want to accost someone just because (s)he uses eMule 0.49.

Hm. I think I never tested what happens if there is an upload ongoing to the user a chat session is started with.
Did anybody else try this?
Edit: Just tried it. eMule 0.50a . Entered captcha, got connected, upload went on.
Didn't get a reply though which hardly surprises me.
So I can't reproduce your problem.

"*** Failed to Connect to client / Connection lost ***"
The connection is not persistent - and therefore the message is correct, if confusing. You can safely ignore it.

I tried sending message to several people. And each time situation is the same - in aMule's "Shared files" tab at the bottom of the window I see informations about given user (table column):
User Name: http://emule-project.net
Downloaded: [empty]
Download Speed: [empty]
Uploaded: [changing number] MB
Upload Speed: 7.7 kB/s
Version: aMule v0.50a
Upload status: Uploading
Download status: Unknown
Origin: Unknown
Local File Name: [not important]
and after sending message text in one little window and four characters (captcha answer) in another window I see following:User Name: http://emule-project.net
Downloaded: [empty]
Download Speed: [empty]
Uploaded: [constant number] MB
Upload Speed: [empty]
Version: aMule v0.50a
Upload status: None
Download status: Unknown
Origin: Unknown
Local File Name: [not important]
So I think that upload to that user doesn't proceed.

Are you sure you're speaking of aMule 0.50a, and not eMule 0.50a ?

You're right - my bad. I want to clarify, because I made so many mistakes: I use only aMule (Ubuntu) and remote clients are only eMule (Windows - I suppose) and when I wrote version 0.50, I meant 0.50a.
But it doesn't change the fact, that Stu Redman can't reproduce my problem...

I wanted to know because if it had been aMule 0.50a, then I could have said it was a some rogue client and close this topic. But in the current case there must be something wrong somewhere... only noone knows where (yet).

Jrk, please describe in detail how you send the message. Like:
I go to the shared files view. Right-click on an uploading client, select "send message". Type in message. Go to "messages" tab". When captcha appears I solve it. I go back to shared files view where I can see client is still uploading.
(Typing captcha wrong also doesn't disconnect client.)
