When I go to Preferences>General and check the Prompt on exit box, function does not work. Additionally, after checking the Prompt on exit box, if I click on OK and then reopen Preferences>General, said Prompt on exit box has "unchecked itself." (I'm not kidding.) Please advise. Is there a ghost in the machine?

Looks like nobody was using this feature. :)
Yeah, it's broken. You can enable it, just the checkmark vanishes when you reopen the dialog. And it stays enabled. The tricky part is disabling it - you have to check - uncheck the box fir it.
That's the behavior on non-Macs. Fixed in SVN 10689.
So actually I can't exactly reproduce your problem. Or do you have a mac?

Thanks for replying Stu. I WANT to use this feature, but I can't get it to work. YES, I have a Mac. How do I enable this feature? Simply checking the box DOES NOT WORK. "It" unchecks itself once Preferences is closed. Please advise. Thanks for your time.

Can't reproduce the behavior on Mac.
Ignore the self-disabling checkbox. Set it, click ok, and it should work (even though it's deselected next time). At least it does on non-Mac.
You can also just exit aMule and edit amule.conf:
[eMule]
...
ConfirmExit=1
And you have to disable the Mac "Hide on close" feature. (This is what introduced the bug btw).

Tried all of the suggestions in your reply above. None worked. Prompt feature still disabled/not working. What say you?
-
I say "Ask Kry", he has a Mac and he implemented the hide-on-close thingy.
-
Kry, if you're out there, care to weigh in?
-
I can also confirm the bug on Debian Testing (Wheezy)
Is there a way to solve it?
-
By using the SVN version?
-
Hi, thanks! I didn't thought it was already solved in SVN versions :)
Compiled and installed: problem solved. ;)
Bye
