Untill now I've started 1.2.0 twice:
1. time: hangs after about 50 minutes
2. time: hangs after about 25 hours
When it hangs the window isn't redrawn anymore, cpu usage goes to 0.0%, downloads don't progress anymore.
I'll go back to 1.0.8 which runs fine for me. It normaly makes it for about 4 days and then get's
slower and slower, probably because of it's mem leaks....
But still 1.0.8 is the best release for me!!!
BTW memleaks don't seem to have been much better between 1.0.8 and 1.2.0. After start both take about 16MB after one day they take about 50MB

exactly same behavior, it always get locked approx 1h after launch...
I don't know if it matters: I'm using the official deb package
-
Same here, using gunnm.org's deb package. Going back to his 1.1.2-3 package which runs here without any prob..
(JFYI: Debian unstable, 2.4.21 kernel unpatched)
-
now, it seems that when I don't add any new download during the session nor perform any search, it won't hang (at least, that's how I could make it run for 8 hours now)...
and I'm running 2.6.0-test9 (deb unstable too)
-
me too, 1.2.0 very unstable (crashes after less than a minute).
I'll post backtrace on appropriate page...
goin' back to 1.1.2

why don't u guys compile aMule from source?
-
Compiled from sources....
No hangs pb 'till now.... wait and see....
But pb while completing downloads
aMule says "Completing"... but never complete... then crash... and on restart (after a reboot) stays "waiting" with 0 bytes remaining....
Sad
-
don't u think your HDD is full?
-
Nop... space left on disk : 20GB!!!
And still the same pb after reboot : completing (little file : about 1Ko to 500Ko) but never "complete"!!!
Sad
-
Well, i'm gonna switch back on the 1.1.2 ..... which complete my downloads this one!

Is there any way to "force" aMule to complete all my 0 bytes remaining downloads????
Sad
-
Oki, i reply to myself
Just copy the .met file and rename it "as It should be" and that's done
I definitly come back to aMule 1.1.2 .... 'cause I don't want all my downloads not to be completed!!!
Don't know if I an the only one... but for sure, this happened to me!!
Sad
-
Don't understand. You sure 1.2.0 don't complete your d/l? You seem to be the only one having that problem ;)
-
Yes... I'm sure
And that's why I open a topic... to seen if I'm really the only one!!

why don't u guys compile aMule from source?
Mine is compiled from sources (I have made my own RPM package) and dies silently after less than one hour :( Distribution is Mandrake 9.2 with wxGTK 2.4.2.
-
Same probs.. also using Mandrake 9.2. Compiled amule myself, but used the wxGTK RPMs supplied from these forums.
Seems to work OK if its left alone, and if you don't do any searches or additional downloads etc.
Otherwise seems to hang after a few hours. The Amule window basically goes white, and won't close.
Also, this has only happened once or twice, I've come back to find that its crashed and closed the program, dropping back to the desktop.

Hi,
I dont't know if it helps. I compiled aMule 1.0.8 from source. Runned weeks without any Problems. In the meantime glibc/gcc maybe some other libs to, got updated (My System Gentoo 1.4 / stable tree)
Then I decided to try the newest aMule out (1.2.0). The same strange behaviour than other here in the forum reported.
Amule runs some hours then the cpu usage jumps to 80-100 % and then the processes (3) get sleeping (seen in top). CPU Usage 0% and Mem usage around 25 % (from 512 MB).
This occured 4-5 times. Then I recompiled the whole system and aMule 1.2.0 stable as a rock. It looks like that the Problem was that needed libs like wxGTK was compiled with another glibc,... as aMule ... Just an Idea.
Another Problem. Very Strange in 1.2.0. I have around 50 Files in Download with around 1000 Sources for all Files. Some with just 1-4 anothers with 400 Sources.
I find Sources without Problems, but they got all lost. Status remains asking or Connecting/Unknown. Never download one byte from most of the Files. For one File as example in the first second I find around 90 Sources and they fall back to 0/0.
So from 50 Files i download effectivly 3-4 all others stays red. So I tried 1.1.2 out, here just 3-4 files have above mentioned Problem.

Empty
P.S: My English is in development ... Sorry

just got a reply from one german user ->
aMule hangs/crash here under gnome .. under KDE is everything ok
-
I use gnome and everything seems ok here. What libs do kde and amule have in common that gnome does not use and vice versa? libstdc++?
-
@DeltaHF: I have KDE 3.1.4. Regards Empty
