Because of some compatibility issues of other programs, I have recently recompiled amule 2.00rc8 in my home directory (following the wiki page about suse92 home compiling)
aMule compiled without any problem and is up and running, but after a few minutes since when amule has started my kde desktop doesn't run ANY other program: there seems to be some strange bug that completely blocks kdeinit activity.

Woird, weird, weird. Never heard of it. Tried a recent CVs snapshot?
-
No, I compiled from the archives in the download section.
The thing is even more weird because if a program is started before running amule, it goes on working withou problem. Knowing this strange behaviour I have started firefox browser and thunderbird mail befor starting amule and I am now using both of them while amule is running, but if I close either and try to restart they do not restart at all. Tomorrow I will try to recompile a recent cvs tarball and will eventually revert to normal (not home) installation.
Thanks

Weird. Try to recompile wx also.

I have seen that very same behavior when for any reason, I change the name of my computer. No programs will start, but already started ones work fine. Check that.
Regards.

Latest cvs snapshot did not compile on my system, but I think that I may have resolved the problem: it probably was a very silly action I have done without proper brain work.
When compiling in home dir I obviously need to start the program stating to add my wx dir to LD_LIBRARY_PATH so, while amule is running and that statement is 'alive' I should definitely NOT install anything with YAST or run LDCONFIG, otherwise my library database gets pulluted with the home compiled wxwidgets.
Now I cleaned the system, recompiled wx and amule (standard rc8 version) and kdeinit is doing is job again.
Sorry to have bothered you all
Just in case, a little warning in the wiki page related to suse home dir compiling could help other silly chaps like me

You're welcome to add this "little warning" to wiki. That's the concept of wiki - to let everyone add his/her little notices to it, that makes it strong, really useful and up-to-date.

Done. Added a little note at the end of the wiki page related to suse 92 home dir install.
Hoping to be of some help to some other silly user like me
