Issues I've had with the remote GUI so far:
-doesn't remember sort order. column spacing and column options are alright tho.
-line speeds: can't change from prefs, when changing from amulecmd, line speeds are not properly displayed (UL is usually (limit)-1 for example)
-can't preview files. is preview planned? even over network perhaps?
-no way to check what part file belongs to a transfer, can't even preview manually
-
If you have read the news to aMule 2.0 carefully you would have read this
and a not-so-mature-but-still-working remote GUI
The remote GUI is still very basic but it will improved an maybe equal after 2.0 release. Preview would be very good but it isn't so easy to implement I think. Maybe in future you can choose in remote preferences a mount point where the temp directory is mounted remote on your computer. So you can use nfs, shfs, smb or anything else to accessing your files and aMule GUI haven't do do something special. It can just use the local file system.

No, it is not "very basic", it is an unfinished "work in progress" and still labelled EXPERIMENTAL on configure output. Most of it's features just aren't there right now...

Will be fixed. Definitly.

No. How do you expect me to get remote file ? Stream it ? No, thank you.
-no way to check what part file belongs to a transfer, can't even preview manually
Minor bug. Will be fixed soon.

Both definitions fine with me :) As long as we both understand what are we talking about :)

Yes, I thought that'd be a problem. Streaming actually came to my mind, but I see this is too much hassle for the use.
Mr Fabers mount point idea sounds good tho. That's d be easy, just use the same code as in the monolith and let mount point setup to the user. Not your problem that way.

Hmm, you mean letting the user mount the temp directory somewhere on the machine running amulegui, then tell amulegui where the temp is mounted and enabling preview from that directory?
If we've gone that far I think it is actually easier (for both the user and the dev) to just implement something where you can see which partfile it is (would be best on right click, as an alternative in file details) and then let the user do his preview for himself. The other solution just sounds too overly complicated to me...
-
Sounds fair to me: if user will somehow supply to amulegui path to Temp directory, it can run preview.
-
Well, it's not like the wheel has to be reinvented: the code is already there in the monolith. Only difference is it's up to the user to actually make the part data be there.
After all - we're computer literates ;)
(I won't complain either if somebody integrates a samba server into amuled, nudge nudge :) )

I would.
