Title: aMule 1.2.4 makes my PC run veeeery slow
Post by: aWM on January 14, 2004, 04:54:24 PM
I've just updated my aMule with the SuSe rpm (I've got mdk 9.2) but now when aMule is run, my pc gets sooo slow
I went back and set up again aMule 1.2.1 and it works fine now  :]
for example with aMule 1.2.1 running I can listen to music without 'blanks' in the music, but with 1.2.4 it's _impossible_  :(

any idea ?

I don't know.  I got so tired of aMule taking all my CPU time, I started running it in an Xnest server instead.  Instead of causing my X server to pause all the time and become unresponsive, it consumes a steady 10-20% of the CPU time, and doesn't prevent me from listening to music or watching video.

I did what is told in the how-to, its oke now - but cpu-use still is something like 80-90%, on an 1000 mhz AMD Athlon.

you said something, on another forum, about bad performance of AMD? what about it, and why, is it a WX-windows issue???

Hi folks !

CPU-cycle consumption stops when /Preferences/Tweaks/Verbose is switched off. Try it :)

Title: verbose mode off doesn't help
Post by: aldivmv on February 08, 2004, 04:25:01 PM
Hi,

I am running the debian unstable version of amule. You suggestion of having verbose mode switched off doesn't solve the problem for me as verbose mode was deactivated. My machine is still running at a cpu nearly 100%.

Best,

I can confirm this. "Verbose" is definately a cpu hog.

And mem hog, because the log has no limit.
