Title: strange error report in amuled
Post by: 1Carlos on August 14, 2005, 02:37:09 AM
If i run amuled with:
 AcceptExternalConnections=0
it sais to me:
ERROR: aMule daemon cannot be used when external connections are disabled. To enable External Connections, use either a normal aMule or set the key"AcceptExternalConnections" to 1 in the file ~/.aMule/amule.conf

Now, if I enable external connections with amule it run correctly; but if I enable it in the amule.conf by hand it doesn't work and reset to 0 the AcceptExternalConnections option.
I think, 'cos when i change by hand amule.conf i don't set a password for the connetction, but the error message doesn't said nothing about it.

please sorry my poor english.

EC is always disabled when no password is specified.

Hello,

i'm using Amule provided in Kanotix & upgraded to version 2.0.3 through apt-get
.
At startup i get a 'external connections disabled' message.
I also realised that some files have less sources than they should. This also happens on sources from the server i'm connected to, even though i have a HighID...

Are these two related??? I'd also like to know what enabling EC means exactly.

ShakaZ, External Connections are connections for control of aMule or amuled by another program, like amulecmd, amuleweb, or amulegui.  So, no, disabled EC has nothing to do with how many sources you get for files.

Make sure you aren't connected to a fake server.  Check http://www.gruk.org/list.php for known good servers.
