Title: Large files don't get hashed and shared
Post by: JLP on October 15, 2005, 01:21:36 PM
I just tried to share two DVD ISO images of Mandriva Linux distribution which are both around 4.4 GiB in size but aMule never started to hash them (can't see the message in log) and so they don't get shared. I'm using aMule 2.0.3 on AMD64 Linux system with kernel 2.6.13.4.

IIRC ed2k is limited to a file size of 4GB.

The ed2k protocol currently can't handle files larger than 4GB.

We're currently working on an extension of the protocol with the eMule devs, that'll solve this issue, but don't expect it to be implemented "soon".

Oh, and don't try to use one of the cutting edge CVS versions, they won't even start with files that big, they simply crash  :)

Not here. So the fact that they crash on your system shouldn't make you discourage other people.

You are right, and I apologize for this remark.

However, I would like to know if somebody is actually looking into why large files (>2 or >4 GB) crash one version, and only produce an error on another. It does seem like some code has changed between 2.0.3 and the CVS'es 20051008 and 20051015?
