Ill try to be as specific as I can though i have not been able to consitantly reproduce the problem. Here are the specifics (or lack their of that i have)
When initiating a search based on any criteria (global/non,any topic, any media type,any/no size restrictions) the program abruptly closes (no prompt and not shown in a ps -A). This occurs on any server. On any quiry. And the port (4662) is not made available upon restart so im lowIded. Im running on redhat 9 with no internal firewalling and all the latest rh9 updates and all other packages are no more then 1 or 2 version out of date if at all. Im going through an old version of novel border manager (unknown version). Logging out of gnome and back in repairs problem. Error occurs infequently and with no real patern i can see. In my experience the amount of time the program has been up has no baring on the error.
Occurance rate is about 1 in 5 searches. Even if doing mutiple simultanios searches it is same general ods of occuring on any of them being started. If u have any steps to possibly narrow down the bug post them in responce to this i will monitor it.

Hi UnseenEnigma,
Looking for the bug, i can see same behavior here except it arise only if search used without option "search global".
So ... effectively search without "search global" crash randomly (sometimes the 1st search, sometimes after some search)
Can you verify on your side the search function doesn't crash anymore if you use "global search" please ?

Seems like I have to debug that thing... although no error on my client.

... not with every search word.
"Judas Priest" is okay
"Java" is evil
... I knew it!

Possibly the new zlib compressed search result packets causing some buffer overflow around search result packet parser. I recall debugging similar issue back in LMule days, back then it was due to some new meta-data that came with results and caused endless loops.
Just some ideas.

I'm seeing this problem too, using RedHat 9.
When I perform a global search then close the search window , it sometimes crashes.
