Phoenix as done some rpms for Fedora 4 there is only a rpm and a source rpm of amule. No rpms of wx yet...but work is in progress to erradicate a nasty bug in the rpmbuild of Fedora....Best way to install amule is to compile wxWidgets (http://www.amule.org/wiki/index.php/HowTo_Compile_In_FC3) yourself and then install amule from the rpm....
Enjoy ....

but but
shoudl you not at least tell the users what options to use to compile wx?
otherwise it will fail on start, since it could be
-gtk1
-gtk2 - no unicode
-gtk2 - with unicode
-
also wxWidgets version would be good to know since 2.6.3 is out aswell ;)
-
Hum, I used wxGTK2 with Unicode. wx-2.6.3 is the choice, of course. I will try to compile it.
-
phoenix where is your rpm? could not find any thread regarding that, otherwise I would have added it to teh sticky fedora thread

Look at the first post in this thread....They are Phoenix rpms ;)
Cheers.....
-
Yeah, I have sent them to wardevil.
Hey, I am still waiting for the spec :P
Cheers!
-
well good to know phoenix made those rpms :P
-
Hey...I allready sent the spec to you...to your gmail account. ?(
i guess i must send it again....
Cheers....
-
Ok, I have received it. I will test it on Monday, I will travel now.
Cya!

First off, many thanks to the people that write amule as well as those seemingly few knowledgeable ones that make us these rpm's.
And now the whining begins.......lol
An rpm of wkGTK would be cool for this new version. You have it for the FC3 and FC5 builds but none for FC4.
Many thanks,
Mike

Yes...I know....seems like my rpms of wx for FC4 does not work with the ones phoenix has made for aMule, thats why i didnt released them....Some compatibility issues with wx and aMule rpms made by phoenix....its just a matter of wx configuration at building time....
I am still waiting for wx rpms from phoenix.... :D
Of course u can test with FC3 rpms even with that aMule rpm....I believe it will work just fine....until i correct things with phoenix.... :baby:
Cheers....
-
Ok, I have sent the rpms to wardevil, but someone should do a test to confirm that they are ok. My system is biased...
-
Do i require wxWidgets installed at all?
# rpm -Uvh aMule-2.1.1-0.i386.rpm wx-base-unicode-2.6.3-2_FC4.i386.rpm
wx-gtk2-unicode-2.6.3-2_FC4.i386.rpm
Installation goes fine, but aMule doesn't run. I get the following errors:
$ amule
Fatal Error: Mismatch between the program and library build versions detected.
The library used 2.6 (no debug,Unicode,compiler with C++ ABI 1002,wx containers,compatible with 2.4),
and your program used 2.6 (no debug,Unicode,compiler with C++ ABI 1002,wx containers,compatible with 2.2,compatible with 2.4).

I was affraid of that....You could try the rpms for fedora core 3.....i believe they will work fine...until i managed to fix that problem....
The real problem is in the config. of wxWidgets since phoenix build the rpm for aMule but with wxWidgets compiled from source and with no compatibility with 2.2.Well until then please use the rpms for FC3...all of them....wx and aMule.
Thankz and sorry for that....
Cheers....
-
NP... The FC3 rpm's seem to work nicely. Thanks! :)
-
I can rebuild it. I will remove 2.2 compatibility.
EDIT:
In fact, I will add 2.2 compatibility to the lib :D
-
When you have it ready just send it to me....
Cheers.....
-
Sent! :)
-
I can't seem to access the files. I can't even get onto the "savefile.com" server. Am I the only one having this problem?
-
Well...for those who have this kind of problem.....i have been heard that some countries have something against savefile.com and block access to them, like china so as a workaround get them here (http://linfreak.zapto.org/amule/Fedora/FC4)
For running aMule you will need the wx-base and wx-gtk2 rpms.
For Building aMule with rpm --rebuild you will need all the rpms except the aMule-2.1.1-0.i386.rpm
Sorry for that download trouble ... :P
Cheers....

Thanks very much Wardevil. I'm grabbing the files right now.
From what I'm been reading in this thread, I should try the FC3 rpms for now. I had the same problem downloading the FC3 files. Now, with this new link that you posted, I noticed that the FC4 files are in a folder called "FC4" on the server. Assuming that the FC3 files are there as well, I changed the "FC4" to "FC3" and the files showed up and expected. My question is, are these the right files for FC3?
-
Yes....Files that are in the FC3 dir are for FC3 and i know they work on FC4 aswell...Files in the FC4 dir where made in a FC4 box,the FC3 where made in a FC3 box.....
If you want to run aMule on FC4 box then you should install there rpms in the FC4 dir in my server:
aMule-2.1.1-0.i386.rpm
wx-base-unicode-2.6.3-2_FC4.i386.rpm
wx-gtk2-unicode-2.6.3-2_FC4.i386.rpm
If you want to run aMule on a FC3 machine then you shoul install the above rpm from the FC3 dir.
The question related to missing rpms of wx is resolved although i told a user to try the FC3 ones for FC4 but its now safe to install from the dir of the version of the installed target Fedora Core installation.
I hope i could make my self clear since my english kind of sucks! :P
Cheers....

You answered my question very clearly. Thank you. I'm running FC4 so I'll just install the rpms for FC4. Again, thanks.
