[CVS 09/01] used memory quadruplicates in 36 hours
« on: September 05, 2004, 02:23:19 AM »

This is memory used by amule as reported by gnome-system-monitor:

Code: [Select]
program start
09/03  h12:44       34.4 mb
09/04  h02:44       54.8 mb
09/04  h19:32       79.4 mb
09/04  h19:52       88.1 mb
09/04  h20:56       96.0 mb
09/05  h02:19       131.0 mb
is this normal?

I haven't noticed any problem with program or with system, just this trend in memory use

No, this isn't normal and we'll have to fix it. ;)

I made a similar experience with the last CVS. (at least until CVS1109, which is in test)

the system crashed more or less regularly after running aMule for a while (time not always the same). With every half an hour aMule was running longer, the system got more and more overloaded and became slower until i had to wait for ~1 Minute to switch from stats-channel to download...  this went on until aMule suddelny crashed.

i don't know if that's also a memory issue or another one, but it somehow seemed to me, that aMule was somehow overloading the RAM until its crash.

another point I saw is, that before its crash, download and upload rates began to fall to very low rates. Specially the upload rate should behave stable, so always when I see these signs I know that sooner or later, aMule is going to crash. This behaviour was stable with CVS 0308.
