Hello to anyone
last day amule crashing on my osx mac based
a try to do anything like remove re-install cancell any component and re-re-install but nothing to do
When I lounch it, sistem say it APPLICATION NOT RESPOND
someone help me???

Hi DjK2,

First, let's try to figure out what's wrong.  I'd like you to run aMule from the Terminal so you can copy the output and paste it here.  Do the following:

• Control-click on aMule.app and Show Package Contents
• Navigate to Contents/MacOS
• Double-click on the "amule" program.  This will launch Terminal and run aMule.
• If aMule hangs or crashes, copy the contents of the Terminal window and post it here.
• Open a new Terminal window
• While aMule is not responding, type this in the new window: sample amule 10
• The sample program will write a report to a file.  Post that file here, too.
• Quit Terminal

Hopefully, that will help us figure out what's wrong and fix it, so you can go back to using aMule.

Hey, I just deleted the other thread you created -- it's never a good idea to ask the same question at different places...

It's possible that something got screwed up in the amule user data folder. This is an invisible folder named ".aMule" that is located inside your home folder.
Try this:
Make sure that amule is not running. Open the Terminal, type "cd" and hit return to make sure you're in your home folder. Now type "mv .aMule .aMule_old" and hit return to rename your amule user data folder to ".aMule_old". Now you can start amule and it should create a new ".aMule" folder. Note: all your settings are gone because those are in the ".aMule_old" folder.
If this does not help and you want to use your old amule user data folder again close amule, type "rm -R .aMule" and hit return to delete your new user data folder and then type "mv .aMule_old .aMule" and hit return to rename your old user data folder to ".aMule".

Holy shit -- you are downloading 138 files at the same time?

Anyway, it looks like amule is somehow choking on the online version check. Not sure if this is actually the real problem or merely a symptom of it.
If you want you can try to disable the automatic online version check. Since you can't do this within amule you have to edit the amule config file.
Here's how:
While amule is not running type "open -a TextEdit.app ~/.aMule/amule.conf" in the terminal and hit return to open the amule config file in TextEdit. Now search for the "NewVersionCheck=1" line and change it to "NewVersionCheck=0". Save and then start amule again via the terminal.

Try running amule without your current ".aMule" folder (see my first post in this thread for detailed instructions).
Then report back whether or not amule still stalls. And please try to think before you post and stop creating multiple redundant and confusing threads all across the forum. Thanks.

One thing I noticed in your configuration is that you have IPFilterAutoLoad set to 1, but no URL specified in IPFilterURL.  (These correspond to the preference settings at Security -> Auto-update ipfilter at startup.)  That may be the cause of this problem.  Now, it's our fault that aMule freezes up, but you should probably not configure it that way.

Hi, I'm new to aMule and after a day or so of normal use, I find aMule is crashing consistently every 20-30 minutes.I've gone with default settings, and changed only those that I believed I needed to having read through the 'getting started guide' Here's a session dump. Please let me know what other info would be useful.

I'm running on Mac OS X 10.4.2 with 960MB memory, and the latest binary version of aMule, 2.0.3

macdav, do you have the Developer Tools installed?  Are you comfortable running aMule in gdb?

If so, here's what you can do to find the source of those malloc warnings and the cause or your crash:

• Open Terminal.app
• Type: gdb /Applications/aMule.app/Contents/MacOS/amule
• At the "(gdb)" prompt, type the following commands:

handle SIGPIPE nostop noprint pass
fb malloc_printf
commands
silent
bt
cont
end
run

• Wait for aMule to crash
• Now type:

bt
bt full
quit
[/list]

Now, each of those malloc warnings will have a backtrace associated with it and you will get a couple of backtraces at the point of the crash, too.  Post the output here.

If you're not able or willing to help diagnose this problem and just want to get aMule working again, you can do this:

• Open Terminal.app
• Type: mv .aMule old.aMule
• Now run aMule.

However, you will lose all of your partial downloads and any credits you have earned with other clients.  This is just like starting totally fresh as if you've never run aMule before.
