I compiled CVS from September 18th using wxGTK 2.8.4, so maybe you should just update your wxGTK version.

Regards.

I'm on Archlinux as well and I have no problems compiling aMule SVN using a self-compiled wxGTK 2.8.6 and the system 2.8.4.

Please check your wx installation (maybe update to 2.8.6, I'll attach my 2.8.6 PKGBUILD) and tell us the SVN version you are trying to compile.

I dont seem to have wxGTK installed at all but a manually compiled wxGTK2 (against which amule SVN compiled fine back in may), are they the same thing?  if not, which one is best? is it better to  remove it and install plain wxGTK?
This is what i got:
Code: [Select]
[root@Tatoo]# pacman -Qs  wxGTK
local/wxgtk28 2.8.0-2
    GTK+2.0 implementation of wxWidgets 2.8 AP
And this is whats available at the repos to install:
Code: [Select]
[root@Tatoo]# pacman -Ss  wxGTK
extra/wxgtk 2.8.4-1
    wxGTK - GTK+ implementation of wxWidgets API for GUI
extra/wxgtk-2.6 2.6.4-2
    wxGTK - GTK+ implementation of wxWidgets API for GUI
Thanks !!  :D

Hi,

go for the repo's wxgtk package and remove your own.

Hi wuischke,

So i did, but i got the same error.

This is the wxGTK  i tried with:
Code: [Select]
[root@Tatoo]# pacman -Ss  wxGTK
extra/wxgtk 2.8.4-1
    wxGTK - GTK+ implementation of wxWidgets API for GUI

So then i tried compiling wxGTK manually using your PKGBUILD, which compiled and installed fine but got the same error once more when compiling amule:

Code: [Select]
/usr/include/wx-2.8/wx/protocol/http.h: In member function 'wxStringToStringHashMap_wxImplementation_HashTable::Node** wxStringToStringHashMap_wxImplementation_HashTable::GetNodePtr(const wxString&) const':

amule.cpp:500: error: expected unqualified-id before 'if'

make: *** [all] Error 2
==> ERROR: Build Failed.  Aborting...

Im getting the same error trying different SVN tarballs (latest i tried was todays Oct'09) and different wxGTK versions, what can i be doing wrong? Any other suggestions?

Thanks!

So I finally got it to compile...

As problem happened with all versions of wxgtk i tried (manually compiled and repos), and the common point was Arch linux' PKGBUILD I tried compiling the regular way: ./compile --options(...) && make, and that worked fine! So i tried a different PKGBUILD from Arch's AURs repository (as suggested by wuischke, thanks!) and it also compiled and created the package i could install with pacman.

The weird thing though is i dont know why one didnt work (but it did worked few months back) and another one did... so i now know Archs PKGBUILDS can be tricky (havent been using it for so long) and will have it in mind for future compilations ... That being said id like to recommend Arch linux to everyone, its a great distro, very fast (i686 optimized), very cutting edge, very stable and a great tool to learn since it has a lot of manual file editing, i just love it, give it a try!
