Sorry, but another kad firewalled problem
« on: April 03, 2009, 12:26:44 AM »

I'm trying to get aMule 2.1.3 running on NSLU2 with Unslung 6.10. I’m using 2.1.3 because I know it works on the NSLU2, and the more recent version that you get when doing ipkg install amule doesn’t work (problem with cryptkey).

I've made aMule 2.1.3 and it ALMOST runs. I can launch the app; log into amuleweb; it connects with a high id; I can do a search and get results; but I can't download
anything because Kad doesn't connect. Actually, it connects, but says it's firewalled, and then eventually disconnects. Also, the file that I want to
download shows multiple sources at first, but then they disappear (I imagine that they time out). I can't figure out why.

I know I've got the ports forwarded correctly on my router.

I thought it might be the server.met or nodes.dat file, so I took those from my windows laptop (which has eMule and works great on the same router with the same
ports) and copied them to the NSLU2, but that didn't work either.

I then followed the instructions in the two sticky threads here in help: “Get a clean Serverlist and up-to-date IPfilter » and « nodes.dat addresses ».  Same result.  Connects to server with high id and connects to KAD but firewalled, then disconnects from KAD after a 15 minutes or so.  I've noticed that the nodes.dat file gets reduced to a tiny size after running amule (someone else mentioned similar behavior in another thread - without a solution)

Any ideas?  I’ve read probably 10 posts here about similar problems, but didn’t see a clear solution.

PS: note that since the NSLU2 doesn't have graphics, I can only manipulate amule through the files like amule.conf, as well as through amuleweb and amulecmd.  I don't have the normal interface.  Also, the NSLU2 doesn't have a firewall, so it's not that.

Seems like a networking problem at first sight. However, you should definiately upgrade to the newest version. Cryptkey problem is most likely caused by a defective Crypto++ library, you should try to compile aMule and Crypto++ for yourself.
