systray tooltip screwed up
« on: December 28, 2004, 04:11:56 PM »

I'm running FC3 and I'm using the "FC3 pack" available on the site for rc8. Installed fine, works fine - except for two things :

 - if I enable the webserver at start-up, it complains about external connections deactivated on .eMule, even if it shows AcceptExternalConnections=1

 - the systray icon tooltip is messed up. it won't show on screenshots, so i'll try to reproduce it in ASCII :)

Code: [Select]
----------------
 | u            |
 |              |
 |e             |
 |(Up:          |
 |18.0(0.2)     |
 || Down:       |
 |13.7(0.4)     |
 ||             |
 | Connected)   |
 ----------------

Very weird, and the "u" and "e" are not constant, random characters appear every time I try to show the tooltip. Some times the tooltip is not vertical, but the traditional (?) horizontal layout. Also, the right-click menu is mangled, nothing appears and after trying to open it, aMule will never show up again upon (left)clicking the trayicon, forcing a process kill (although it appears to be running OK).

I'm running Gnome. Please tell me how can I fix this / explain it better.

PS - it also complains about a corrupt server.met file on startup always - rc7 didn't.

hi,

about the 1st problem. did you copy aMule.tmpl and the webserver src folder from rc8 into your .aMule ?

about the tray - systray integration checked?

server.met - weird, there must be really a pb on your side, because noone else reported such thing till now. remove the server.met file maybe and get a new one

cheers

About the systray, can you look on bugs for the systray unicode patch?

how do you enable webserver at startup?

there is no such option in amule itself?
if you use a script whcih does taht..it could be that amule is not fully loaded already so that teh port is not opend yet when you start amuleweb

Hi,

sytray does strange things when not compiled with utf8 support, and when there are accents or non ascii std characters in the translation of the words in it. But if u r in english, u should not have problems...

Also, when compiled with 2.4.2 and utf8, accent are "A@" instead of "é"

Sorry for the late reply.

 No, I did not. I installed the "rpm pack for FC3" available on amule.org's downloads. Since I read this, I now have everything in place - I even searched the forum to find the missing logo.jpg and got it. However, amuleweb crashes with a segfault after about one minute of execution... :(

Yes, Gnome 2.x.

done, fixed.

What about amuleweb? Anyone else reporting segfaults?

amuleweb has segfaulted once or twice for me, while I was using it. Mine is a self-compiled amule RC8 running wxGTK 2.5.3 GTK2, without unicode. But anyway, I have also problems with amule itself crashing, so I'm trying to get a nice backtrace. Only problem is when amule runs under the debugger, it seems not to crash :P

Regards.

Well, forget that thing about segfaulting after one minute - it segfaults a while after I choose to view the transfers list. Apparently, I take about a minute to check it. :) Seems to be a timeout/overflow thing... any chance? I have about 80 downloads running. Oh, and another thing, the "Log" and "Debug Log" show "logfile empty, something is wrong". wtf?
