Can't connect to webserver
« on: January 08, 2005, 08:22:38 PM »

I just compiled and installed aMule 2.0.0rc8 on 64-bit Gentoo Linux for AMD64. I have enabled Webserver in preferences and specified some port. I then restarted aMule. But when I try to connect to http://127.0.0.1:5711/ the connection just times out and the web interface never loads. Firefox says that Connection was refused.

Nope haven't read this one. It looks like way too much work for such a thing. This should just work out of the box when user enables it.

Some would also say that having to install linux is too much work such a thing as a p2p app. And anyway, coupling a webserver too tight to a p2p app would be a sure way to shoot ourself in the foot, leg and head. Hence our choice of keeping it as a separate utility.

btw :)

to make you even more happy, I hope you have wxBase installed, not sure if it comes with aMule while emerge, but you need it so that amuleweb works ;)

I didn't say that you don't have to read a lot to get Gentoo Linux installed and then read a lot to get it set up. But I am tolking about average user. For them all this extra work is way too much. It should be done in the same simple way as it is done in eMule. Just enable webserver and you are done. That is what average user expects.

On 2.0.0, if you have webserver installed and the template copied to right location, the Enable Webserver option will work.
