Hi! I have problems with gentoo too, but my wxGTk is linked against gtk1, because I use "-gtk2 -unicode" in USE flags.
I'm using one ebuild arranged by me, and I've sent it to gentoo bugsLink because I thought that I have solved the instability problems... but I was wrong because amule hangs his interface after some hours....
And this happens with Slackware 9.1 and amule 1.2.3 and wxGTK 2.4.2

I really don't know what to do, and If i'm using amule under gdb for six hours the log will be very very large...
But if the developers want it I can do it :)

Any way, if you need more info about the compilation options and the ebuild itself look at bug report page

I really want this solved because amule is the only p2p client I use and I don't want to change :)

i've got condition causing the bug

after 2 days of attempts i've founded this:

aMule's (version 1.2.1, 1.2.3, 1.2.4) interface freeze (without program crash, so gdb doesn't give any output) when completing a file that is being downloaded by other users
everything works until program displays these lines in output
Code: [Select]
[New Thread 32771 (LWP 28530)]
completing->PerformFileComplete(NULL); !!!
C0AF6106F00DCE80161C641E06F0713B: Suspending uploads of file.
C0AF6106F00DCE80161C641E06F0713B: Removed user 'beren123124124124124[ITA]'

C0AF6106F00DCE80161C641E06F0713B: ReQueued user 'MaxPayne_Cosworth_[UD-ITA]'

C0AF6106F00DCE80161C641E06F0713B: Resuming uploads of file.

when there are no users downloading output tells:
Code: [Select]
[New Thread 32771 (LWP 32114)]
completing->PerformFileComplete(NULL); !!!
AF4CB29A99C17395056DD93364F6FFD6: Suspending uploads of file.
AF4CB29A99C17395056DD93364F6FFD6: Resuming uploads of file.

and everything works flawlessy

i hope this could help...

I'm recompiling wxgtk (2.4.2) after changing the gentoo ebuild and put all the flags mentioned in how-to, then I'm gonna download the cvs version and see what happens...
If doesn't work I will try 1.2.4.. if still doesn't work... I'm probably look for another e2k client... or switch to Direct Connect...

ok I've compiled the cvs version (downloaded yesterday) and I'm running in gdb... but happens the same. The debug output it's not so usefull because it's full of droping sources statements. this is the beggining:
This GDB was configured as "i686-pc-linux-gnu"...
(gdb) run

Loading temp files from /mnt/stuff/tmp/mulas/*.part.met.

After that, it loads the part's files and shares, then only droping sources....
It's still running but the interface has gone like GhePeU screeshot.... I really don't know what to do....
Here is the output of get-info.sh:

ls -l /usr/bin/wx*
lrwxrwxrwx    1 root     root           16 Jan 25 18:46 /usr/bin/wx-config -> wxgtk-2.4-config
-rwxr-xr-x    1 root     root         5141 Jan 25 18:46 /usr/bin/wxgtk-2.4-config

It's possible to use one user compile for wx* and amule?
I mean, If I can compile wx* under /home/kanniball/progs/wx and tel amule that this is the wx dir?

yes, u could.. but u have still many weird libwx in your /usr/lib dir .. thats why i said remove all wxGTK and recompile it by yourself.. if u compile aMule with amulecmd u need wxBase too ..
