Hoping for some help compiling aMule CVS on Mandriva x86_64 linux.
I realize that some things are different on this system (/lib64) for example, but many other programs seem to compile okay using the default system values.

Running ./configure on aMule though reveals this:

Now perhaps I need to set compile flags, etc. but I'm not that sure of what to do at this stage.  Help would be appreciated.

Seems like configure cannot find your C++ compiler.

Well, from the configure output, I would say that you do not have a compiler installed. But you say that other programs do compile... Weird.

Try as root:
$ apt-get update && apt-get install gcc

And try to compile again.

Attach your config.log file, or look up the problem in that file yourself.

There's your problem:

./configure: line 2115: g++: command not found

You lack the c++ part of the compiler.

So, try:

$ apt-get install gcc-c++

D'oh.  I can't believe it was that simple.  Since gaim compiled without a hitch I just assumed all the compilers were installed.  Damn!  Sorry for wasting your time with a simple error like that one.
