Hi,
I've downloaded a "tk.rar" file and am trying to figure out what to do with it. Obviously I tried unrar-ing it but RAR 3.60 beta 2 tells me it's not a rar file.
Running $file .tk.rar gives me this: Tk.rar: MPEG ADTS, layer III, v1, 32 kBits, 44.1 kHz, Monaural
Googling has turned up no utility that I could use to unpack this file. arK doesn't like it either (just refuses to load it).
Any suggestions?
Cheers,
Jonathan

Try to open it with mplayer or xine. Maybe you have to rename it to .mpg or so first.

Hi Volls,
Yeah, I had tried changing it to .mp3 and .ogg but not joy. Following your suggestion I tried .mpg and .mpeg with both xine and mplayer and they both just hang up and I have to kill the process. :-(
Thanks,

maybe try to redownload the file, and check in the file dialog what other filenames and file extensions you see
you would have to remove the file from teh shared folder tho, otherwise amule wont download it

Thanks Stefanero,
As always, your ideas are excellent and I should have thought of that myself. ;(
I tried that but the file (which was quite rare) has disappeared. No problem, I found a similar one with the good old reliable .rar extension and since I'm not in a rush, I'll download that one.
I did notice another file with an .ace extension so I tried renaming that file .ace but unace didn't like that either. I guess it will remain one of the great mysteries of the AMULE world. the file is now in the bin.
Thanks again to you and Volls for the good suggestions. :baby:
Cheers,
Jonathan
