Title: Immediate blacklisting, too many shared files?
Post by: iselldrugstokidsonline on June 14, 2006, 06:15:55 PM
I'm using  amuled on Mandriva Linux with a 2.6.12 kernel on an AMD Opteron.

When I first connect to many of the non-bogus edonkey servers I'm immediately told that I'm blacklisted. Most other major servers will say I'm either blacklisted or part of a filter netblock.  I've checked the official blacklist sites and my IP is not in any of their ranges.

I've got a large (and legit) collection of about 4,500 files I'd like share. I've read in different places that edonkey servers have thresholds on the number of shared files per user, but the exact number given always seems a guess. Is this probably the problem? If so, does anyone know a large number that would be safe to share?

Also, if this is the case, perhaps aMule should gain the ability to publish a subset of all the files in the Incoming directory. Maybe you could share X files, and only the last X new files would be shared. Maybe you could specify statically which files would be shared. Maybe aMule could throw a warning if I'm sharing an unwise number of files.

Thanks.

Don't share more than 500 files. That should be sufficient.

It is, also, completely unrelated. (as long as you use a recent version)
