Hello!
I'm trying to compily the aMule-demon on linux.
When I try to compile wxBase, I get
./configure --prefix=$HOME
...
checking for GTK+ - version >= 2.0.0... no
*** Could not run GTK+ test program, checking why...
*** The test program failed to compile or link. See the file config.log for the
*** exact error that occured. This usually means GTK+ is incorrectly installed.
configure: error:
The development files for GTK+ were not found. For GTK+ 2, please
ensure that pkg-config is in the path and that gtk+-2.0.pc is
installed. For GTK+ 1.2 please check that gtk-config is in the path,
and that the version is 1.2.3 or above. Also check that the
libraries returned by 'pkg-config gtk+-2.0 --libs' or 'gtk-config
--libs' are in the LD_LIBRARY_PATH or equivalent.
In fact, where is no gtk+-2.0.pc on the system. But there is a directory /usr/lib/gtk-2.0/, with subdirectories 2.4.0 and modules. I don't have root access to the system, so I can't simply reinstall GTK+.
So, what's wrong here, and am I still able to compile the aMule-demon on that system?
Greetings,

you need to put --disable-gui in the configure flags. Check the wiki next time...
-
Thanks!
Which wiki page do you mean? I used http://www.amule.org/wiki/index.php/HowTo_Compile_aMuled
Sorry, an other question: now I get
./configure --prefix=$HOME --disable-gui
...
config.status: creating lib/wx/config/base-ansi-release-2.7
config.status: creating lib/wx/config/inplace-base-ansi-release-2.7
config.status: creating version-script
config.status: error: cannot find input file: Makefile.in
So where is the Makefile, I could not find any... (wxBASE 2.7.0-1)
-
your compiling wxBase atm right??? not amule?? or am I wrong here...
-
Galaxy07, this is a packaging error in the wxBASE-2.7.0-1 package. Get the Makefile.in from the wxGTK (http://hhttp://prdownloads.sourceforge.net/wxwindows/wxGTK-2.7.0-1.tar.bz2) or wxALL (http://prdownloads.sourceforge.net/wxwindows/wxWidgets-2.7.0-1.tar.bz2) package. You may also want to file a bug report (http://sourceforge.net/tracker/?group_id=9863&atid=109863) to the wxWidgets developers.

Ok, thanks! I wrote a bug report.
