Title: completely newbie
Post by: secobau on September 28, 2006, 03:23:26 PM
Hi. I am completely new in this "amule" thing.
I have installed amule 2.1.3 in SuSE 9.3.
I have run the application and no problem at all.
I have connected to DonkeyServer without any problem.
I have searched a little file to try how it works, and found a nice target (only some MB).
I have initiated the downloading of the file, but nothing happens...
NOT A BYTE downloaded at all...
What happens???
I am almost sure it is problem with the configuration of the aMule,
or maybe it is a problem of opening ports.
SuSE firewall is not running.

Thank you for your help.

Hola amigo
I think you don't wait enaugh. Dowloading files is a process slow sometimes, I mean you have to respect the queue when get a file.
Maybe you are saying that no conection appears when you try to transfer a file?¿
Explain it to us.

About SuSE firewall you can enable it without problem just opening as root the file /etc/sysconfig/SuSEfirewall2 and adding this at point 9:
FW_SERVICES_EXT_TCP="4662 4712"
FW_SERVICES_EXT_UDP="4662 4672"

You could do it by yast2 too
adios

Thank you Paco. I think that I understand now... It seems that I have chosen I file without fonts available. Because now I have tried a new file, and it is downloading without problem.

Thank you very much for helping a newbie!!! It is very important, because when you are beginner any little difficulty descourages you a lot. Now I feel more comfident about aMule.

Saludos.
