I have my upload speed set in the preferences at 100 kbps and download at 400 kbps. It seems the uploads can be from 4 - 45 times faster than the speed I'm downloading at. Even the KNOPPIX (from setup) is slow on download at 1.4 kbps. However people upload it from me at 29 kbps.. Is there some way I can increase my download speed. It will take days (13) to download an old movie. I'm using a Mac with OS X 10.4 and the appropriate version of aMule

zaque,
It depends a lot on the up speed of your connection. Don't set your upload speed too high, because you will damage your download if you use all your up bandwidth. For example, if your up link is 300 Kbps, you should not set it to 30, give is some space for download and for using the machine (browser, etc), set it to like 24. Notice that the number that is to be entered in the preference dialog is one order of magnitude slower than the connection speed in kbps.
Read the following links carefully:

Cheers!

Yep, even with a really fast connection, it can indeed sometimes takes DAYS, sometimes even WEEKS to download a file. It all depends on how many sources there A couple times, I've even had a files sitting in my DL queue for MONTHS until they finally got the last chunk from some erratic source...

I reset some of my prefs and it has greatly improved the download speed. Thanks.
