Title: A-Mule as Anonymous-Mule
Post by: anonymous-Mule on December 03, 2006, 09:08:41 PM
Hi,

A-Mule stands perfectly for Anonymous-Emule.

Therefore we just need a kademlia network working with base 64-keys instead of IP adresses over the anonymizing http://www.i2p.net work.

Would like to join a sub-team to perform this added code to create a second kademlia part over i2p.

Anyone else interested ?

Hmmm... why?

Because this is not an anonymous P2P app and transfers are done with user's IP?

aMule's GPL'ed - you're allowed to modify it/take code parts as long as you credit the original devolper and publish your modifications.
Read the original license text for further information. It's shipped with aMule.

... or fail-mule. Your obvious lack of understanding on how ed2k network works is disturbing. you can't do taht without rewriting all the app, and if you rewrite all the app, oyu don't need to use *Mule code. Because you can't. Because Kad is not a p2p network. It's a node discovering network.

we wanna try to use amule code to make an ed2k link accepting p2p app over i2p, in best case swarming with emule

You gonna have to explain that better, it's not comprehensible.

There is a small team of coders, which want to develop an edonkey/emule net client, which is working over the i2p.net network.
This has been done sucessfully with the gnutella client phex, see the forum for i2phex. The application got base-64-keys, which replaced the IP adress-references in the application.

We want to do the same for the emule app.

First, there is the approach to use the code, which is usable on windows and linux, so amule is perfect for that.

Second, the Name a-mule stands perfectly for anonymous mule.
(see ML Donkey, it was the name from OCAML-language, but the branding was then to be a *M*_U_*L*_TI-Donkey and they were technically the first team, to have gnutella and torrent hybridity in, earlier than shareaza, though shareaza then more popular.

Back to amule, if you maybe later want to collaborate, then we could brand it anonymous-mule and we would get ahead of emule...

till that, the architecture is just to use the code in this way:

1. amule code with base-64-keys over i2p
2. amule code as it is , with IP.

The new gui then has both under one hood:
and there is a button to start
a) 1
b) 2
c) both.

So we can even swarm anonymous and non-anonymous transfers for the same ed2k link.

Can you support us in creating a code base on amule, which has base 64-keys for i2p.net like i2phex ?

If not... maybe later we can merge the name amule to anonymous mule ...

Can you please not to use the word "anonymous" - it have virtually no meaning in P2P networks.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Anonymous_P2P

if you cannot identify the IP adress of a seeder or releaser, then it is called anonymous.

Some networks offer this.

Please get back to topic and stop discussing things like 'anonymous'.

If someone wants to join the thread starter's idea, he's free to contact him, but it won't be a part aMule. There's nothing to be discussed anymore.

Thread will be closed if you're no nice boys and behave yourselves. :)

aMule is working and is brand is well know.
If you need a new brand, this maybe can sound like "anonyMule" or "anyMule"; it sounds cool too!.

The project can catch the people fantasies against a world more and more hostile against the p2p culture... but somebody must first be able to write the code neededfor such a thing as you asked for.

Your group is able to do it?
Where is you cvs? Or... where is your forum or IRC or... I don't know which other place or method... :-) where you share your opinion on the modifies needed to the source code, to realize this fork of the original aMule source code?

Simple question from a simple mind!
Best regard.
