Title: help please
Post by: antruot on January 05, 2007, 06:51:24 AM
Hi,
I'm new with p2p and probably asking some stupid questions (stupid for you) but... let me try.
I installed amule on my macbook, following instructions.
First odd thing: if I try and search (global search), for instance "Rolling Stones" with standard parameters I don't get anything while if I choose "Audio" instead of "Any" by opening up the extended parameters I get what I'm looking for. Isn't it strange?
Most important: I seem to be able to get only mp3 files. If I search up for programs or e-books, I don't get anything.
I tried with the same parameter with emule on a win pc and succeded as it was a piece of cake.
Thanks in advance for any help.

Hi antruot!

I'm not an expert, but I recall there's manipulation of search results by some servers. Try searching with kad or on various local servers and tell us whether the problem persists.

Thanks for replaying, but you must have a lot of patience with me: this is a point I have not understood. How do I search with kad? Isn't it something that happens by default? The online help talks about some option in the settings, but I didn't find anything there.
Thanks fot your help.

When you are in the search window, then you have the option to select the search type out of 'local' (local server), 'global' (server in serverlist), 'kad' (kademlia network' and 'FileHash' (online service).
Here you should select 'kad'.
