Title: Forum back up!
Post by: Kry on February 18, 2007, 01:22:48 AM
Forums are up again. Thanks for your patience!

We now use SMF with a very customized theme that I hope you enjoy. Special (very special) thanks to bunbun (http://www.amule.org/amule/index.php?action=profile;u=9487) for her help in the icons and other cool stuff.

I managed to keep the users, posts, threads, forums, even the avatars. The only thing lost (sorry!) is the attachments. Maybe some day... meanwhile, if you need any of the attachments from the old forum just ask me.

Some changes:

Hope you like it, and sorry for the downtime!

P.S: Please leave any comments about the new theme/forum config/etc that you want in this thread, so I can do changes if necessary. Thanks!

P.P.S: Yeah, bunbun's my fiancee.

is it possible to have better colors for amule home?
Black on dark grey doesn't seem a good way to let people read very well...

That's noted and will be fixed.

It tok some time, but now it's done, but two things I don't like, or maybe I liked better in the old one.

1. I miss the quick-answer field, I now have to cliock on reply for a reply.

2. The arrows for inflating/deflating the subforums are switched. I just need english and german, and when I want to minimize the frensh section, I have to cllick on a "down" arrow, for rolling it back there's an "up " arrow, but the way this all is shown would let me expect it the other way.

I see the personal messages have also been lost?

Any way to recover those?

Also it seems that once I click on "reply" I get bounced back to the top of the category where this post is. I don't get back to the actual thread, is that intended behaviour?

Try in your forum profile to set "return to topics after posting".

Unlikely, but... I'll try.

I like the new color scheme. It looks much more "evil" than the previous forum color scheme, just as amule forums should be ;)

Regards, and thanks for the hard work :)

Just found another problem. At the right side is <<previous next>> Buttons. They should be called previous thread and  next thread, I just tried to switch pages of this thread with them. And for the pages previous next buttons would be fine. But they should be called then previous page and next page

Thank you very much for the effort and time to bring back a forum.

I hope that we are soon seeing a new aMule version in this new forum. ;)

The small mule icons on the tabs of the browser (favicon.ico) are not showing.

And the number for the last page could be a bit bigger, so it's easier to aim (at least when I'm drunken again)

I support Vollstrecker's request, I changed the topic instead of the page too.

I personally dislike the color sheme as it's dark. But I'm using Babylon and I'm happy.

Edit: Problem with showing umlauts with Opera.

There is a problem with the color of the text of the attachment file. When you attach a file, the file name gets invisible, but if you highligth the text, you will see that it is there. It gives the impression that the attachment has not been done.

- the new forum is too dark too...
Change the background color, please !

I second that! Especially amule.org web page is very hard to read! On the forum I use Default_Modern theme.

OK, so you are obviously new here. We have nothing against beginners, but there are some rules you should follow.

1. Search in the forums and with google before posting.
2. If you didn't find anything, open your own thread in the right section of the forum and do not ask in another non-related topic or in the wrong section.
3. Never write in capital letters as this indicates shouting. This is not only rude, but makes my mouse pointer move very fast over the "delete" button.
4. Describe your problem in a less generic way. Include info such as operating system (I assume you use a Mac), file format (e.g. sorbischePolka.mp3 is a MP3 file), audio player and describe how you try to play the file and what happens.
5. Proper punctuation and spelling is nice as well. Re-reading and correcting little typing errors will cost very little time while it reduces the effort of reading and understanding the question a lot. This is particularly an issue as most of the people here do not speak English as their native language.

In my opinion, the forum is back up long time ago. Therefore, I close this thread.
