Title: Reducing Upload Slots

I have about 35 uploading files and 119 downloading as displayed at the bottom of the window. Is there a way to change the amount of uploads to a lower number? In preference...Connection... I see Slot Allocation is at 2. I thought this was for uploads. High uploads make my Opera and Firefox download real slow.  Can anybody change their upload slots?

Set the bandwith limit correctly (minimum should be 10KB/s, optimum is 75-90% of your line capacity) and change the slot allocation to limit/number of slots.
e.g. 40(KB/s) / 5 (slots) = 8 (KB/s) slot allocation.
