I am using OSX, and just updated to the newest version 2.1.3 for PANTHER, as I am still using this version (not TIGER)
There seems to be an issue with aMule not QUITING properly, in fact it confirms the quit and then simply starts to hang (PINWHEEL)
and my computers speed is still super slow. It seems to keep running in the background?
I know on a PC you can quit the app on the tool bar, however, on the OSX version of aMule it will not allow you to do this, FORCE QUIT doesn't work, and the only method is to HARD RESTART your computer.
This was happening before I upgraded , when I was connected, then for some reason once I started downloading the newest version I think it got scared and started shutting down properly. However, I noticed once I updated, and have been using it for many hours....it will not SHUT DOWN or QUIT properly.
Is this a BUG? or is there some HIDDEN method like going to the terminal?
I think this is a hassle, because no application should continue RUNNING after you tell it to QUIT....
My wife is calling this aJACKASS as she doesn't understand it, and it seems to just be SLOWING her system down. ha ha ha!
Please help? aMule is a wonderful tool, I just think this little kink or bug or HALF QUITTING needs to be resolved?
Also, I tried to DISCONNECT from the server BEFORE I quit, and this doesn't work either....the DOWN to UP stays the same....
I believed there was an option in PREFS but I found it not! No background running or whatever...
much thanks!

thanks I will check this. I did ENABLE the prompt. Right after I emailed I tried aMule again and found that it does quit it just takes a while.
Like I said, and I may be guessing here, but the longer you are on aMule (or connected to actual sources) I think this makes a difference.
Then it dawned on me. The times I was not downloading anything YET...I was only uploading, aMule quits quickly, and the network is up to speed. Like I said I could be spec on this, but I wish a programmer could verify my hypothesis. (QUIT meaning FULL QUIT and not just minimize)
I guess that aMule quits, but, then it has a window of time that it FINISHES either DOWNLOADING what it is actually on(the part?)
or the Upload?(the part) am I possibly correct? For, I can't see it waiting to UPLOAD or DOWNLOAD everything, but there is something going on under the hood so to speak that DELAYS the FULL quit. To prove this, most Mac users think something is wrong if it doesn't quit rather normally as in within a few seconds...but more than a minute? but, I was able to check aMule down in the DOCK, and the little black arrow was in fact gone! It took a few minutes, but it did quit...where as before I was assuming that it had frozen or was hanging....it was just super super slow, and for most people who QUIT using the DOCK, it never takes this long, and the PINWHEEL is a sign that something is wrong....I wish the pinwheel would tell you, but there are other FINDER apps to help you to monitor what is going on....I just don't know exactly what I am looking for...my wife just wants it to work not like AOL which it reverts too when we are using aMule.(again aJackass she calls it...)
I like the icon! 8-)
on another note:
After you close or QUIT aMule, does this not allow people to access your computer? Or do they have to access it via the network?
I don't like to keep turning ON and OFF and changing my FIREWALL and router settings...
but I would like to FEEL SECURE, even if I am on a Macintosh...
Thanks again, for the aMule, help!
