Yeah, but what does soon mean, soon might be a year.  Can you tell me approximately, a week, a month, three months?

"soon" means two years, but maybe shorter.

Well, they've been saying soon for the past year, haven't they?

If they have, compute two years minus one year, and the result is the maximum waiting time for the next release.

Hurry up or I might start running eMule on Parallels.

Interesting, because we actually do plan on releasing this month. And the server has to be paid :P

Putting the kidding besides, I still think, that it would be really time for a new version. Thoes of us that don't run the CVS are now runing for over one year with the 2.1.3. That means, no working KAD with amuled, no files over 4 GB and all the other nice things that you have in the CVS, but for thoese that are to scared, haven't seen in all this time.

Heck, I don't want to push, but keep in mind that most of us can't hunt for bugs, if we don't get the new version.  :P

Unfortunately the Kad problem is afaik not really solved, but there are hacks to workaround this.

Anyway, What operating system/distro are you using? I can give you a prerelease-Tarball and possibly compile something as well.

That are bad news about the KAD. I really wished that this would work. I really hate the idea of restarting the whole program, only because of the lost connection of KAD.  :(

Well, since I'm too afraid of using tarballs, I guess I have to wait.

Guys, don't get us wrong. You are doing a great job and we appricate the work you put in this project. But we would love to see some releases from time to time. (Even once a year would be nice.)

Nevertheless, I'll go on and use the 2.1.3. It is a good pice a of software. Thanks for that.

This is first priority for aMule 2.2.1 or 2.2.2 (depends on our luck with the Windows bug)

Why? We are in release mood, if it wasn't for a strange Windows bug we would have released already. Current tarballs are the same as 2.2.0, at least for *nix and Mac.

Distro??  I'm looking forward for the Mac version.

What are tarballs?

And I never knew what KAD is, I just liked connecting to it.

It would be cool if someone would make a program like eMule based on BitTorrent technology, that'd be superfast.

OK, could please test the Mac prerelease (http://forum.amule.org/index.php?topic=13170.msg70053#msg70053)?
It's almost the same as 2.2.0, only some last-minute bug fixes and optimized compilation will change.

.tar-files. It's similar to a .zip-file and when I say tarball, I mean a tar-file containing the source code of aMule.

The Kad problem I was referring to only happens when you use amuled, a non-gui version of aMule.

It is just, that I'm a supid-Ubuntu-User (feisty/x86) and I'm lost if I don't have a source for .debs of my amule+amulegui+amulecmd.

Besides the fact, that I read something about a problem with the lastest CVS in Ubuntu. :(

There are other programs that did try this. But at the end they are slower than a program that tries to be good in only one thing (like aMule.)

Well, we need testers or we can't fix these problems. Or do you prefer aMule 2.2.0 to have these problems? ;)
No, can you please give me links to these problems?

I f you're running Mandriva Spring, just test this package (http://forum.amule.org/index.php?topic=12981.msg70126#msg70126) (wxGtk2.8.4 based, link for rpms in the beginning of the thread). That should give you the taste of it  :o.

Well, you are right, but since I'm too stupid/afraid to compile the things by myself and I'm facing a problem there (see below), I guess I have to wait for the masses to go on the long awaited 2.2.0.

It is here:
http://forum.amule.org/index.php?topic=12458.0

First I thought that 08/13/07 would be the last one, and that seems to make a problem by the user El Labero. But than I realize that the 08/20/07 is standing below.

That I could install, but I would lost my amule-gui-utils. And since I'm using amuled, I would be lost completely without any way to control it. (I guess that my old amule-comand 2.1.3 would also not work.) Okay, I could use the ED2KLinks-file to give links to the amuled (but lost my categories this way), but I could only read the logfiles to see what is happening. So I guess I'm not much use. I could only tell you if it is working or crashing, since I'm not seeing anything. Not much help in the bugtesting, aren't it?

On a sidenote: Since the bug in windows is delaying the release of 2.2.0, do you need bugtester for this? I can run Windows XP on my second (not imported PC). Maybe I could help to locate this bug and so speed up the release of the version. But on the other hand, I guess that you already have plenty of people out there for this.
