Title: Sometimes most downloads suddenly stop, all at once
Post by: Justin on November 01, 2007, 04:38:47 AM
Sometimes when I am downloading many files at the same time, my fan kicks in, and amule is using maybe around 75% or more of my CPU, and after a while, suddenly instead of simultaneously downloading around 20 files, most of them stop and then it is only downloading 2 or 3 files, and all the others say "waiting" instead of "downloading".
My processor is 2GHz and memory 2GB.
Any thoughts?
Thanks

Hi all
Still hoping for a reply! In the meantime, I realised, actually I made a mistake about "75%" of my cpu. My "activity monitor" actually claims that when this happens (such as right now!) Amule is using around 130 ~ 150% of my cpu (not sure how that is possible), and also claims "Amule is not responding" at some moments of that overloaded state. It happens seemingly at least a few times a day.

Thank you

Which operating system are you using? If I remember correctly, it is a Mac, isn't it?

If yes, please give a CVS version found in the Mac section (http://forum.amule.org/index.php?board=49.0) a try. (The most current is 20071024, I think.)

Do you mean "get a CVS version", rather than "give a CVS version"? I am not sure what CVS means. Does that mean it is untable or has problems? I saw 2.

Do you suppose they are better than Amule 2.1.3 ? Which one should be better? And how would I make it take over from my current Amule, take over all the downloads which are in the middle of downloading?

Thanks!

No I said "give it a try" -> give a CVS version found in the Mac section a try. But in the end it is the same.

CVS is a version control system and used as the name of our developmental version. I wouldn't say that it is unstable (I expect little changes towards 2.2.0), but there are some little problems like e.g. with the display of the statistic graphs, but nothing serious. You'll get some important new features and bugfixes with this version.

A general rule is: The newer the better (unless we say otherwise ;) ), but in this case it doesn't really matter, because there haven't been too many changes lately.

The downloads and settings should be kept automatically.

Sounds great. Sorry for misreading - I think these pixels are frying my brain.
I also just noticed the 2 links I posted were identical! One was meant to be this one

which looks like it might be the newest.
Thanks!
