Title: Can't Register
Post by: ervall on November 06, 2007, 10:07:27 PM
No registration form appears when I open aMule.

I am running Leopard in an iMac and was a long time user of eMule.

Thanks in advance,

ervall

Huh? Are you talking about the forum? There is no registration involved when using eMule or aMule.

I guess you mean the first run wizard, aMule doesn't have one and you'll have to set up things in the preferences. Please do not hesitate to ask if you have trouble to set something up correctly.

I meant aMule.  Since I am very low tech I am unsure as to how to proceed.  I do not get a server list and have been unsuccessful in downloading it. I get "Failed to download servr list from http://ocbmaurice.dyns  etc.  Also, under the Connections in the Connection tab in Preferences I do not know what to put for bandwidth limits.  I am pretty much going with the default on other things.

Thanks in advance

Try another server list, e.g. http://www.gruk.org/server.met.gz

Your connection settings depend - as the name suggest - on your connection. We can't help you unless you give us some details on it.

Thanks Kemo Sabay, the link that you provided worked and now I am able to download. Regarding my connection I have 1.5 MBps download and 256 KBps upload through a satellite connection. I also have 1 GB 667 MHz DDR2 SDRAM and run at 2.16 GHz with an Intel Core 2 Duo.

I would appreciate any recommendations that you might make for setting my preferences.

Thanks again,

ervall

I don't know about satellite connections, so if the connections drops when using aMule, try lowering the number of max. connections as well as the hard limit. If not, leave these values as they are.

I recommend you to set the upload limit to 28KiB/s (if surfing gets slow, try setting it to 24) with a slot allocation of 4KiB/s. A download limit of 0 means unlimited and is what you should use.

Your computer is more than fast enough for aMule, don't you worry.

Hi there,
I am running amule the first time on my powerbook. Unfortunately the program does not downloud the serverlist. The protocol only reports the failed downloud attempt. Can you help?
