I'm happy to announce the release of aMule 2.2.1 - the "Excuse me, have you seen my 2.2.0 release anywhere?" version.
I want to highlight some features from the countless bug fixes and improvements made:
- Protocol Obfuscation
- UPnP support
- Network protocol updated to eMule 0.49a (including large file support)
- Kad 2.0
- Improved skin support and country flags
- Support for compilation with MS Visual Studio
For a complete list of bug fixes and new features, please see the changelog (http://www.amule.org/wiki/index.php/Changelog_2.2.1).
You can get the sources as always in the download section (http://www.amule.org/files/files.php?cat=34) on the main page or via eD2k:
ed2k://|file|aMule-2.2.1.tar.bz2|4569813|1648F5FC3086A07CF11EB506C9BB863F|/ (http://ed2k://|file|aMule-2.2.1.tar.bz2|4569813|1648F5FC3086A07CF11EB506C9BB863F|/)
We will provide you soon with Mac OS X and Windows packages. For Linux and other operating systems, there are user contributed packages (http://forum.amule.org/index.php?board=69.0).
Edit: Due to some platform specific problems and the impending next release, there won't be official packages for this release. Please use user made Mac packages from here (http://forum.amule.org/index.php?topic=15245.0) or here (http://forum.amule.org/index.php?topic=13920.0). Please ask for Windows binaries.

Looks like the news has already been submitted to Digg (http://digg.com/software/aMule_2_2_1_Released) and it's ready for spreading it around the world :)
-
Great!
Just complied and ran in openSUSE 10.2.
-
Thanks for the email update and the ed2k link (I don't check the forum that often). Just downloaded the tarball and compiled it under Fedora 9. Now running v2.2.1; everything looks sweet.
A really big THANKS to the devs and everyone else involved for getting this release out the door. You guys are great!

.: Several changes have been made to improve kads resistance against malicious keyword publishing:
.: Kad now keeps track which filenames were published by different sources for the same file and uses the most common name (instead the last published one) when responding search requests
.: Same hashs (files) which have different filesizes are now properly stored seperatly instead overwriting eachother
.: Kad calculates a rating based on how many different sources publish a file and how many files publishes a source. When responding to a search request, files with a rating below a set limit will be sent last in order to avoid that spammed files push out valid ones.
.: The Kad rating for published files is also sent in search results to be used in the future version as indicator
i think kad nodes working like these are a good defence against spread of fakes, especially in a future kad only network

Gui bug? "ServerConnect.cpp(263)"
I don't think it's a bug, do you have debug enabled? What's the full message in the log?
Now svn focus in gui? or performance?
In the long term we'll surely rework our GUI, but I see our current focus on multi platform and remote connectivity.
Looks like the news has already been submitted to Digg and it's ready for spreading it around the world
digg is out of service - it wasn't me!
@RRT4: I think so, but I can't tell you for sure.
-
do you have debug enabled?
No, --disable-debug --enable-optimize
Same here. Ubuntu 8.04

Hell - it's about time! (http://www.starcraft2.com) ;)
A big thank you to all the guys who worked right up to the last minute on it. :D
Hopefully the 2.1.3 crashreports and the eternal "please try the current SVN build" get diminished now.
-
Thanks developers!!!
-
ZOMG THE ELVEZ ARE COMING!!!
Thank you, great job! :D

Yes.

Is there a gentoo ebuild?
-
Happy Birthday! I'm sure someone gave 2.2.0 to you as a present, that's why we couldn't find it. ;)
christb: Unforunately no one using Gentoo wrote an ebuild yet, but I think the gentoo devs will do so soon.

developers! developers! developers! :) wow, a new release after two years... i can't get it to run on lenny though, does anybody know what's the issue with wx2.8? or will there be a nice .deb package soon? :)
-
Still waiting for an official OSX version to be released......Please don't forget your fellow Apple friends here
-
Please consider using armadillo's package (http://forum.amule.org/index.php?topic=15245.0) for Mac OS X in the meantime.
-
Is there a repository for amuled+amuleweb 2.2.1 on debian etch?
-
Thanks!! ;D
-
@Gaglia, it's in testphase atm. Look this evening in the wiki or the forums-sektion for packages.
-

Love you ;D
-
Hi georg,
Please use user contributed packages. You'll find links in the updated announcement.
-
Schreiben ist gut, Denken ist besser. Klugheit ist gut, Geduld ist besser.
As stated in the first post, there won't be an official package for this version. We are still lacking Mac developers and the ones who could create a package are busy with real life stuff.
-
