Title: Not immediatly sorting the added files in the transfer list.
Post by: ecforum on August 16, 2008, 04:01:17 PM
Hello,

I will try to explain that with my bad english.
On recent version (2.0 ?) after selecting some files to download when we go in the transfer list the new files are well sorted in the list of tranfers. It seems that the list of transfers is sorted when entering in the tranfer context.
On previous versions the new added files where at the end of the list and where only sorted during the next update of the list.  This was very interesting to manage the priorities of the files. On 2.x version we have to seach the new files in the list : so it is impossible.

Example : I search and download all videos of athleticism and gymnastic in the JO. I have 100 files or more in the transfers list with normal priority.
Now I want to download all races of M. Phelps in swimming. I search, download and go in the tranfer context. If I want to set the priority to high for these videos I have to search them in all the transfers. It is impossible.

To find the new files together at the end of the download list was very practical.

An solution would be to not sort the list when entering in the transfer context ?
Or to add the date when the file was added in the transfer list and to sort on this date.

This small problem makes amule 2.x not practical for me... :(
I hope that you will find a solution for that.

Thanks.

A column with the added date would be the best option.

Or you can create a category, say "MyNewFiles" and dowload files into this category (right-click >> Download in category >> MyNewFiles). The you can easily set their priorities or do whatever you want with them, and then move them into another category as needed.

Thanks for the answers.

I think that I will have to read the wiki to discover functions : I did not know the categories...
It can be a solution.

I think that I saw a bug. The wiki says :
"Priority: Set the priority that newly added files will be given if they are assigned to this category. By default, Don't change."
When I set a priority to the category the files in the category still have the normal priority...

Thanks for the answers.

It's only for newly added files.

BTW: I like to add files in stopped mode, then I can quickly see the list of new ones.

Concerning my initial post I confirm that the categories is a good solution. Thanks.

It's only for newly added files.
It is not working for me on 2.2.2. Do you use this version ?
The color of the text works. But not the priority...
But it is not a big problem : I do it manually !

I'm having the problem too. I've tried assigning existing downloads to a new cat AFTER I've told it to change priority and I've also tried adding new downloads from searches to a category (again after I told it to change priority). I've also tried restarting etc and confirm the option is set both in the config and in the gui. This is with monolithic Windows and daemon on FreeBSD with Windows GUI. The priority remain on auto no matter what I do...

Here's my curent solution:

All existing transfers are in categories.

After adding new downloads, right click on the leftmost tab, select "all others". This brings up the new transfers.

Select, edit, set priorities, etc etc, then file in an appropriate category.

Works for me.... :)
