Title: Speed specifications

I would like to know how to optimize my connection speed. For that I hace to put a percentage of the speed of my connection. Since this is theoretically 6 MB, do i have to understand that it is 6MB Download or Upload? and if it is only Download, what should be the Upload speed? Do I have to cenvert the 6MB into Kb, and how?
