Title: not to lose credits

Hi all!

I have emule working on windows. I read that if I install amule on my linux, I'll automagically lose all my hard-earned credits  ;(. Is there a way to avoid this? maybe copying the emule config files, or something?

Also, if I switch back to windows, will emule cause any trouble? (I regularly switch from windows to linux for different tasks)  :P

hey

you won't loose oyur credits if you copy the files from your windows system
you need : known.net, clients.met and cryptkey.dat

but DON'T use 1.2.6 use RC1 or later!!!!

and for the second question.. yes it is no problem to switch back and forth from windows to linux... all 100% campatibel

actually you will also need the preferences.dat
this is the file where your userhash is saved.

the cryptkey.dat is the file containing the coding of your preferences.dat

in the clients.met are the credits of other users. (would be fine if you do try to save them too ;)  )

you can copy the perferences.dat but there is no need to... I changes every time once your system is formated or whatever.....

the second thing... I said to copy the clients.met  :P

if you dont take it, you can leave cryptkey.dat too. ;)

the preferences.dat contains your userhash.

if you dont take it, then you are at the beginning, you cant use your credits. you have a new userhash.

Thanks for the help I did what you said, but now, an annoying problem:
Whenever I switch form emule to amule, amule says the transfering files might be corrupted and starts rehashing them. Same happens with emule when switching from amule. Any idea why is this and how to avoid it? I'm saving my temp and incoming dirs to a FAT 32 partition, so linux and windows can write to it.

RC1 has a bug on haveing Temp directory in a FAT32 partition.
Upgrade to RC2. BUT, rc2 has _another_ bug on haveing the Temp directory in a FAT32 partition ;-) There's a walkaround posted by k-teto here: http://www.amule.org/amule/thread.php?threadid=1655&sid=

I hope this saves you the time you loose rehashing ;-)
Please keep informing if you have problems after upgradeing to rc2 and applying k-teto's walkaround.

I just tried what you told me, with the k-teto workaround. The program works, but still thinks my files are corrupted, and rehashes them. Needless to say, the behavior of emule has also no effect...

Didn't your "set quiet in /etc/fstab" walkaround work?

Sure my workaround worked. It has always worked since the xmule 1.6.x days. But anyway, my aMule still rehashes files everytime I start it after using eMule.
