Title: aMule Proxy
Post by: annoix on November 12, 2008, 11:12:29 PM
I'm not a total dummy when it comes to computers, but I'm not a professional, either. I use a Mac for graphics and website design.

Anyway, when I set up the proxy in preferences, how do I know that it's working? If I did it wrong, I wouldn't even know it...

Thanks!

Normally, if you configured your proxy wrong, amule will not connect at all.

Regards.

Ack! Except... just to test it, I totally screwed up the proxy settings, with "enable proxy" checked, and it still connected just fine. So, regardless of whether proxy was checked or not, or what I put in, it still connects. That doesn't give me a lot of confidence...

Go to Preferences and in the Debugging tab check "Enable Verbose Debug-Logging" and in "Message Categories" check "Proxy". You should see a lot of messages telling you about how the proxy is working, but you will probably not want to leave this debugging on on normal usage because it will waste quite a lot of cpu.

You really should try to get a normal internet connection where you don't need a proxy. Your download will be much faster.

And please keep in mind, that proxy don't mean anonym.
