hello,
i am running ubuntu and i have amule 2.2.2, updated recently from 2.2.0 because my search option suddenly stopped working. the problem is that even after the update the search option still does not work and i don't know what is going on.
a while ago, a friend of mine told me that amule service was going to end but i doubt that because my active downloads (the ones i had before the search problem occurred) are active and downloading.
so, does anyone know what is wrong? my kad is active also. any help will be extremely useful.
regards

Fake server probably. Try running Kad only.
There is no amule service that could end. It ends only if people stop using it. :)

just disconnected from the server (ususally i am at www.usenext.to) and kad is active (and i have high id). tryed to do a search and it says that to search something eD2k must be turned on.
can you give another clue?
-
Set search type to 'Kad'.

nice. i can do searches again. tell me just one thing more, everytime i turn amule on, i have to manually disconnect it from the network menu? or can i leave it on and do the searches through kad? because i just tried to search through kad while connected to usenext and it worked fine.
is my download speed slower if i am just running kad?
-
You can safely leave everything on and search through Kad.
is my download speed slower if i am just running kad?
No.

thanks a lot for your help. will talk about this forum to my friends. thumbs up :)

Yeah, I've just read this and wish I'd known about setting it on Kad only a long time ago. Much better. In the meantime, I'd discovered that if you select "sharing kingdom" and a few other servers, you can search.
Still wondering why it tends to revert to hybrid server after a few hours. This is annoying, because that won't allow search and results in slow download.
The new 2.2.2 for Mac is great, however. The only problem is that on the transfer page, scrolling up or down moves the frame horizontally too. This requires back-and-forth adjustment. Bit of a bore.
