Title: aMuleGUI on Symbian OS: is it possible???
Post by: GuybrushThreepwood on June 18, 2009, 08:11:22 PM
Hello to everyone! :) I was wondering about the feasibility of porting aMuleGUI to Symbian OS... Could it be possible or is it simply impossible (as  I fear)? I would do some research about the subject as soon as I would have some spare time: in the meantime I hope that someone would like to give me an opinion... Thanks to everyone! :)

Hi,

According to a short research: It is possible, but it requires a complete new application specifically written for Symbian.

If you are a moderately advanced programmer and once you are familiar with the programming environment (should take quite some time) actually implementing EC (http://www.amule.org/wiki/index.php/EC) for the communication with aMule shouldn't be too hard.

Still, it's a lot of work and unless you're interested in the Symbian platform it's probably not worth the effort. Consider using a mobile-optimized amuleweb-template instead.

Is there a VNC client for Symbian? That should be the easiest solution.  ;)

Given my experience (limited) of Symbian development I wouldn't even think of it. Can you think of platform without decent string manipulation lib?!
