Hello,
I installed aMule today (sudo apt-get install amule).
Version.... "aMule SVN Mon Feb 18 17:02:15 CET 2008". That's all I could find about the version.
And it constantly crashes. Or rather, I run it, start doing something else and then discover the aMule window gone.
The 'temp' and 'incoming' directories are on an ntfs partition. I have ntfs-3g installed and the partition is mounted using that driver.
I run it again, it goes away again....

You're not much one for doing research or providing information, are you? ;)
But I guess you use Ubuntu 8.04, don't you? Then please have a look at http://www.amule.org/amule/index.php?topic=16647.0 - click on the "deb" symbol underneath your version name (Hardy Heron 8.04) and install this package.
Then you can update amule. (You might have to reload the repository data first.)
Edit: You can update either with the update manager or with synaptic (Click on "reload", "mark all upgrades" and finally "apply")

Thanks for your patience-for-the-silly-newbie, man.
It worked, though I have no idea what I did, following your instructions : )
(I've migrated to Linux a little unexpectedly and way too tired - thought just to install and learn at my own leisure, but because of my unorthodox HD configuration I lost access to my XP & Vista, etc....).
I'll do all the reading & research, but for now, thanks a lot for helping me get aMule working.
