Hi, lately aMule has been freezing while starting up, I've tried re-installing but its still the same problem. Is it a bug? Or do I have a mac virus?

Hi mrach,
could you please tell us some more details?
-> aMule version (Where did you download it?)
-> What Mac and Mac OS X?
-> How does it freeze? Could you make a picture?

could be a corrupt 'known*.met'
can you move them to a save place then see if it starts then, by re-generating the hashes....

I have a mac powerbook G4, OSX Tiger 10.4.11, I don't get an error message or anything it just looks like its about to open but freezes half-way through. I get an application not responding thingy when I left click on the icon on the bottom of the screen. I have installed and re-installed 3 times now, its still the same. If I had an error message or pop-up I would have something to go on at least, but I don't understand why its freezing halfway through start-up. I downloaded aMule 2.2.5 from the directory indicated on the amule site. I can't really printscrn it cos the mule icon jumps like its opening, and then it stops, no black arrow underneath to indicate that its open. Sometimes I get the aMule window, but that just stays blank/grey.
I don't know how to get more precise than that.

Also, I have tried azureus, and it works fine. Could it be a virus or something? I've never heard of a mac virus, but I'm sure there is one.

OK, that's good information already.
Please try the following: Rename the folder ~/Library/Application Support/aMule to aMule-old and try to restart aMule. (That's the configuration folder; ~ is your home folder, i.e. /Users/username)
It should work now - I'm afraid it's a bug of aMule with certain files in the configuration folder, but we don't know why exactly this happens.
