Devo anticipare che le mie conoscenze informatiche sono probabilmente ferme a Windows 3.1
Hi all,
I'm absolutly useless in technology since windows 3.1 (some of u probaly has never see it :o!!!)
I was using aMule 2.2.3 without problems till the upgrade to MAC OS X 10.6.1.
Since then if I run it I see the application opening on the dock, but it close immediately.
I checked the list of the last used application and amule is there, also I cannot use it.
I've updated to 2.2.5, but nothing changes.
is there anyone that can help a grandpa solving this?
Thanks
Ciao ciao

Ciao renna,
First step is upgrading to 2.2.6 and trying again. If aMule suddenly crashes you probably see a dialog box which allows you either to print the crash-log or to retry. Please attach the crashlog here.

Update to 2.2.6. When I run it I don't get any dialog box.
I tried to run WXCas.App that was in the downloaded pack and there I get the crash report.
I don't know if this helps!!!

Well this is a known issue (http://forum.amule.org/index.php?topic=17284.msg93111#msg93111) with aMule on Mac OS.
aMule and the other tools should correctly work, don't they?
-
aMule is opening on the Dock and is in the list of recent applications, but it close (I suppose) immediately because is not in the list of the open applications.
the same is happening with the 2.2.3, 2.2.5, 2.2.6.
I'm really useless with the softwares, but I know I haven't change anything BUT SL 10.6.1!!!
I read the other post, but the issue here is different because I cannot get aMule to stay open!!!
Any idea?
thanks

Any idea?
Try to launch aMule from Terminal. If you installed aMule into Application folder:
$ /Applications/aMule-2.2.6/aMule.app/Contents/MacOS/amule
and post the output here.

Big steps for me (but a small one for an expert!): I found the terminal and copied your suggestion but...
there must be something wrong in the way I do it.
I copied
$ /Applications/aMule-2.2.6/aMule.app/Contents/MacOS/amule
/Applications/aMule-2.2.6/aMule.app/Contents/MacOS/amule
I tried also the italian version (the language is set in Italian)
$ /Applicazioni/aMule-2.2.6/aMule.app/Contents/MacOS/amule
but the answer is always "no such file or directory".
I see that I'm in my "user" folder in the terminal and I don't know if I have to do something to do before running you line. is there something like the "cd.." from MSDOS???
Sorry to be a pity!
Thanks

but the answer is always "no such file or directory".
Sorry I forgot to specify that you must pay attention to the path of aMule.app. Open your Application folder and look for aMule: if aMule.app is included into another folder (e.g. aMule) you have to modify the previous command. For example:
$ /Applications/aMule/aMule-2.2.6/aMule.app/Contents/MacOS/amule
-
I did it!!!
this is the output:
/Applications/aMule-2.2.6/aMule.app/Contents/MacOS/amule
Initialising aMule 2.2.6 using wxMac v2.8.10
Checking if there is an instance already running...
There is an instance of aMule already running
(lock file: /Users/renna/Library/Application Support/aMule/muleLock)Raising current running instance.
Next step!?!?!?!?!?
thanks!
-
Thanks Mirko.g!!!
I log off and restarted the Mac and then run aMule again from Terminal. It worked.
I exit from aMule and tried again from Finder and it worked this time!!!
Really thanks.
Ciao

This happens when aMule has not been properly closed. Next time:
Cmd+Opt+Esc
Select aMule
Force Quit
:)
