Hi,
i have a guy who ist downloading using an amule 2.2.6, too, and he is using my nickname.
I don't think that someone looked at my name and changed his name, i think that this is a changed version of amule or another client copying data or it is a malfunction of my amule-client showing the wrong name to me.
Any hints?
Thanks a lot and kind regards

Some clients copy data. It's a known fact, they do it automatically - shows like your name to you, but as my name to me.

It's a nick thief feature. There's no benefit in it anymore.
In the past some eMule mods had a feature that when you add certain tags (like [ACME]) to your nickname and other with the same tag wanted to download from you, they would get a better position in your upload queue. Therefore when the client steals your nick it would have a nick with the same tag in it that you entered, so he would get an upload "boost". AFAIK that's the whole story behind it.

OK, in fact this needs a client with that feature and an user who does not know anything and has activated that because it sounds cool :)

Yeah, nothing useful and neither dangerous!

It's interesting what nicks will be chosen if both sides have this feature activated...

The default one of the first client to contact the other one. Sorry to burst your mindfuck bubble.
