Title: Current status, again
Post by: Kry on June 08, 2004, 03:10:09 AM
Ok, Unicode support is ready on 99%, minor issues being adressed (mainly trying to walkaround wxWidgets errors).

We gave up on wx 2.5.2 : is way too buggy. aMule compiles and runs but interface is screwed on one notebook and on stats window. Minor stuff, but annoying.

What does that mean? it means rc4 will be out soon. CPU usage has been reduced again too, added protections against some clients with bad network code that were reducing speed/crashing/making annoying stuff on aMule, and some lots of more changes.

Codebase is being polished in a way we never thought it will be. Thanks to phoenix (our new dev) for joining us and contributing so much code, so Xaignar and me are (and the rest of the team, of course!) are working full time (when my 8-hours work allows me to do some coding, of course).

Ah! That's other news. I got a work about a week ago, as I have to pay for the food I eat and the place I live (unfair world!). So we had to relax development a little. Remember you can click on the paypal button up there, donate, and if we get enough donations, we will hire some guys to code this and we're gonna have party all nights.

No, seriously. Thanks for the donations. Did I said there is a paypal button up there? ;)

Hope to release soon,
   Kry

Hi Kry,

could you predict when RC4 is going to be finished?

Greetings,

My crystal ball says: No, I can't. ;)

Really, soon. We're adressing some crashes so rc4 is finally stable (specially RSB)

You can get cvs nightly releases at http://amule.hirnriss.net
Don't get releases after 2004-June-10 since big code changes are being done since and that new code is still very little tested.
Nightly releases before 2004-June-11 works fine, much better than rc3 and 1.2.6, except for the RSB bug (also on rc3, rc2 and rc1, btw).
Greetings!

So you would suggest me getting aMule-cvs-20040610.tar.bz2? Is it more stable then RC3?

Greetings,
PsychoChris

CVS with GTK+ 2 is working pretty good over here, for a few days with no crashs or other error at all! :D

Can't wait for the official release  ;)

Will we have the option for choosing between using GTK 1 or 2?

sure, on rc4 we will tell u howto use it with gtk2 (but no warrancy - its depend to wxwidgets)

wait... does gtk2 still depend only on wxWidgets or are there changes to amule configuration?

PS. I ask this for the ebuild

u have only to compile wxgtk 2.5.1 linked against gtk2 (without unicode atm)

are gtk2 still unsupported with wxwidgets 2.4.2?

it could be a problem, because development packages (like wxgtk 2.5.1) are not included in portage, so i'll leave the gtk2 check... or maybe I should open a bug report to ask for inclusion

I'll wait for rc4 official release

yep, no support for gtk2 and wxgtk 2.4.2 .. it 'seems' to work with wxgtk 2.5.1
