Title: amule core dump on FreeBSD
Post by: squigly on July 07, 2004, 05:20:25 PM
I've port-installed amule 1.2.6 on my FreeBSD 5.2.1 (stable).
When I fire it up using a regular user, it sends a core dump:
--- Capture ---
squigly@freeb~> amule
Initialising aMule
Config:
x1: 101 y1: 85 x2: 800 y2: 520
split read, found : 0
srv_split read, found : 0
Server listening on port 4712.

Abort trap (core dumped)
-- Done ---

When I'm using the root (god, please, don't strike me down) it runs
perfectly fine.

Any idea?

and you did not apply any restrictions to the user ?
check limits

on my vanilla installation of freebsd 5.2, amule 1.2.6 was running fine

Nop, no restrictions (well, at least nothing I'm aware of).
I have no problam what-so-ever running anything on my bsd (fine OS, if I might add).

Say, on another note, did you have any trouble compiling aMule 2.xx?
I guess there isn't any port of this version (being RC and so), hu?

(sometimes  I wonder how people manage to live without ports, I mean, in the begining, compiling was fun, but you get tiredsome after a while..."need that, depends on this, headers not right bla bla bla")

That's what we have Portage for. ;)
