Title: A question about conflicting packages of wxGTK
Post by: Ludwig on July 10, 2004, 08:41:52 PM
Hi,

I spent a long time getting amule (1.2.7-1) up and running ( I'm new to this Linux thing :)    )
It neccessitated me installing WXGTK-2.4.2-1 which was not the version that came with Suse 9.1

Anyway, a problem has arissen with trying to install Bittorrent:
Bittorrent requires Python -wxGTK which in turn requires WXGTK2_2.4
This conflicts with the WXGTK-2.4.2-1 required by amule.

Is it ok to install Python -wxGTK in the hope that the newer version of WXGTK that I have installed, namely WXGTK-2.4.2-1
will work with Python, or is this generally a no-no?

Or, do earlier versions of amule use WXGTK2_2.4, which would enable me to use Bittorrent as well?

Cheers
Ludwig

Depends on your distro but most surely the wxGTK package will work with python-wxGTK package, so force its installation.
Greetings!
